Hospice and Euthanasia
Here at Himler Veterinary Service, we understand end of life care can be one of the hardest decisions you can make. While it’s extremely difficult to envision life without your pet, we are here for you during this devastating time. Euthanasia can sometimes feel like you are giving up on your pet or being disloyal to them. But it’s important to remember that euthanasia is a gift, and when used appropriately it can prevent further suffering for your beloved pet and emotional suffering for your family. Quality of life is a term used a lot by veterinarians but put simply, the quality of life comes down to your pet's happiness and overall well being. You know your pet better than anyone else, but if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us, we will talk you through the entire procedure and answer any questions that you have.
Saying Goodbye
After care arrangements is something that no one likes to think about, but it’s best to have a plan in place prior to the appointment. We offer private cremation, as well as options for communal cremation. With communal cremation, there is no return of remains. Cremation is not a requirement and if you would prefer to take your pet home with you, that is an option as well. If cremation is selected, your pet will be cared for as if they were our own.
